There’s an update to a case noted previously on this site. Emily Lane reports that Shanta Barnes pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday to charges of health care fraud and aggravated identity theft.
The scheme, according U.S. Attorney Walt Green’s office, started in June 2009, at the latest, and lasted less than a year at the facility called Louisiana Health and Rehabilitation Options, located at 4914 McClelland Drive.
I’m not sure what happened after that, but an imposter alert of December 2011 that I had uncovered previously may indicate that there may be more to Ms. Barnes’ story than the charges in this case. Perhaps some local reporter in Louisiana could find out more.
