NC: High school students charged with hacking into school computers

So simple a child could do it? Fox46 reports:

Iredell County, NC – Seven high school students were charged in an Iredell County campus computer breach.

On Tuesday, September 1, Iredell Statesville School System reported to the sheriff’s office they has been hacked. The school believed the suspects were students at the school. The ISS IT Department quickly stopped the breach with a new password and additional security procedures, according to police.

Seven Lake Norman High School students are charged with accessing computers of other students after one obtained the administrative password, said Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell.

Martin J. Edmund Jr., 17, of Freshwater Lane, Mooresville; Gregory Matthew Torney, 17, of Windy Knoll Lane, Mooresville; Jake Donnelley Leffew, 18, of Easton Drive, Mooresville; Grayson Noble Baker, 16, of West Mananta Road, Mooresville; Joshua Stephen Miller, 17, of Dedham Loop, Mooresville; and two 14-year-old boys were all charged with accessing computers without authorization, Campbell said. Baker and Miller were released to the custody of their parents and the other three, Edmund, Torney and Leffew, were given $1,500 bonds.
