CO: Juvenile arrested in connection to threats made at Rangeview High School

Posted on October 9, 2015 by Dissent

Hsing Tseng reports:

A juvenile male in connection to a threat made at Rangeview High School has been arrested Thursday, according to the Aurora Police.

Extra security was in place Thursday at Rangeview High School after reports of a threat against a teacher at the school.

The Aurora Police Department School Resource Officers for Rangeview High School received a report of a threat made by an unknown person via email Wednesday. During the investigation, it was determined that the threat was not credible, but police had extra security in place on campus as a precaution.

Aurora Police said an unidentified person made the alleged threats. That person reportedly hacked into the teacher’s email to make the threat.

The arrest and ensuing worry came after a student hacked into the school computer system and issued shooting and bomb threats to teachers, one in particular. Word leaked out about the threat and that neither police nor school officials could determine who the student was. After news of threats was made public on social media and a late Wednesday story by the Aurora Sentinel, school officials said they and police had determined the threats weren’t credible.

The Sentinel publishes copies of emails sent to teachers, with crude and graphic threats.
