Ross McCarthy reports that Charlton Floate, the teenage hacker who brought down FBI and Home Office websites from his family home in Solihull has avoided jail time:
… in sentencing Floate to eight months suspended for 18 months Judge Steel said he had taken into account his age at the time he committed the offences, his remorse and that he had shown significant remorse.
Floate, of Starbold Crescent, Knowle, who had admitted three charges under the Computer Misuse Act and two of possessing prohibited images, was also ordered to do 250 hours unpaid work and pay £1,200 costs.
