Nation News reports that The Barbados Advocate’s web site was defaced. Visitors to the site were reportedly greeted with a pop-up message from the “Muslim Electronic Army.”
Then in a profanity-laced note, the hackers urged the newspaper to secure the site while singling out the police and government.
They said the next target would be www.gov.bb, government’s “official portal”. (NB)
As of the time of this posting, which is two days after the hack, The Barbados Advocate‘s web site is down. As the second largest daily newspaper in the country, that seems pretty significant. A cached copy of their homepage was still available on Google, however:
The gov.bb site is online at this time and does not appear to have been defaced.
