A pair of low-level Houston managers at one of the nation’s largest trash collection companies were convicted in federal court Friday of stealing identities of more than 10 U.S. citizens and assigning them to undocumented garbage collectors.
The undocumented workers involved in the identity theft scheme at an Afton Road hauling site run by a Waste Management subcontractor were fired and then rehired in 2012 with other people’s identities.

Investigations into Waste Management, subcontractor AMI Staffing and other individuals employed at the two companies are ongoing, a Homeland Security agent testified.

Rudy Alexander Martinez, 36, the route manager for commercial trash pickup, and Israel Arquimides Martinez, 44, the lead driver for residential waste collection, were convicted on 18 counts
