Mapco Data Breach Class-Action: How To Get Your Settlement

Posted on November 2, 2016 by Dissent

There’s a follow-up to a 2013 payment card breach involving MAPCO that was followed by litigation. Now the litigation has resulted in a settlement offer, it seems. J.R. Lind reports:

To qualify, you must reside in the United States and your personal or financial data was stolen from Mapco’s data systems and if you were damaged by the data breach disclosed by Mapco. If you used a credit card or debit card to make a purchase at a store owned and operated by Mapco Express between March 1, 2013 and April 30, 2013, there’s a chance you were affected.

Under the terms of the settlement, claimants will be paid up to $500 for documented out-of-pocket losses, unreimbursed charges, or time spent remedying issues related to the breach (up to five hours at $15 per hour). Don’t have documentation, but still spent time checking to see if your data was stolen? Mapco will pay for two hours of lost time at $15 per hour without documentation.
