KY: Confidential info taken from 160,000 Med Center Health patients

Posted on March 23, 2017 by Dissent

Bowling Green Daily News staff report:

Med Center Health announced Tuesday that certain patient billing information may have been compromised.

The information included name, address, Social Security number, health insurance information, diagnosis and procedure codes, and charges for medical service.

However, the information obtained did not include patient medical records.

This incident only affected patients at The Medical Center Bowling Green, The Medical Center Scottsville, The Medical Center Franklin, Commonwealth Regional Specialty Hospital, and the Cal Turner Rehab and Specialty Care and Medical Center EMS between 2011 and 2014.

Earlier this month, Commonwealth Health Corporation, the parent corporation, reported an incident to HHS as affecting almost 700,000 patients. That incident was reported as “theft – other” and it’s not yet clear whether this is the same incident disclosed by Med Center Health or another incident.
