A follow-up on a breach previously noted on this site. I imagine we’ll see a number of these from school districts in the weeks and months to come.
Williamson County Schools sent a message to parents Friday warning about a security breach of it’s (sic) Edmodo system putting student and parent information at risk.
The district said a third party accessed usernames, encrypted passwords and email addresses through the district’s file/assignment sharing tool.
WCS said the security breach affects approximately 33,000 current and former WCS students dating back to 2011. It estimates the risk to be minimal, but the school is in process of changing all student passwords by June 19.
