The University of Central Florida is seeking dismissal of a lawsuit filed by five people whose Social Security numbers were compromised in the school’s data hack last year.
In February 2016, UCF revealed there was a security breach involving 63,000 current and former UCF students and employees. The FBI’s Jacksonville office is investigating the incident but has not released information on how it happened or made any arrests.
Jeremiah Hughley, a former men’s basketball team manager, originally filed the lawsuit in Orange County Court last year seeking class-action status, but in March, he filed an amended lawsuit with four others joining his case, court records show.
