WV: Patient accuses Charleston Area Medical Center, ex-wife of invasion of privacy

Lhalie Castillo reports:

A Logan County man alleges his medical records were accessed by his ex-wife without permission.

Brent Varney filed a complaint Oct. 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Area Medical Center and Angela Varney alleging negligence, invasion of privacy and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff received treatment at the Charleston Area Medical Center in March 2016. He alleges his ex-wife Angela Varney, who was an employee of the medical facility, unlawfully accessed his medical records without his permission or consent.
