UK: Former nurse sentenced for cyber stalking campaign

Posted on December 19, 2017 by Dissent

A 27-year-old who carried out a campaign of harassment against a number of women has been sentenced to 22 months in prison, made the subject of a non-harassment order and placed on the sex offenders register.

Adele Rennie, a former nurse, has admitted using a host of invented aliases to carry out a series of stalking and sexual offences, a breach of the data protection act and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

[…]

She also accessed the medical records of one of her victims in an attempt to obtain further details.

Read more on Scottish Legal News.  This case got a lot of attention in the UK media, in no small part because the female nurse was posing as a male doctor.  As Mogaznews reports:

The 27-year-old, who worked as a nurse at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, pursued relationships with ten women through social media sites, dating websites and apps over a four-year period.

One of the disturbing aspects to the case was that Rennie allegedly duped the women into sending explicit photographs in an attempt to ‘harm and humiliate’ them.
