Suspicion of leaking sensitive information from IDF: “Details of hundreds of thousands of soldiers exposed”

Note: this is a Google translation of an article that originally appeared in Hebrew at https://news.walla.co.il/item/3183496:

Four people are suspected of setting up a system for trading information about candidates for military service, according to an investigation conducted by the Ministry of Justice’s Privacy Protection Authority. In the course of the investigation, a systematic violation of the privacy of hundreds of thousands of discharged soldiers and civilians was revealed, after information about them was extracted from a database of the Meitav unit in the IDF.

As part of an investigation conducted by the ISA’s enforcement department, it was discovered that the four suspects had established an information-sharing system based on lists received from the unit’s information systems, which is responsible for screening and placing candidates for military service. The suspects were headed by two civilians who headed the network, who were assisted by two soldiers who had access to the systems.
