French newspaper crippled by ransomware attack

Posted on November 21, 2020 by Dissent

Le Monde, in conjunction with AFP, reports that the French daily, the Paris-Normandy has been the victim of what is reportedly a ransomware attack:

The Paris-Normandy daily is the victim of a cyberattack which has prevented it from updating its website since Wednesday and disrupted its paper editions, we learned, Thursday, November 19, from the daily.

“We can’t update the website since 1pm yesterday , ” the newspaper tweeted Thursday morning. “Our company suffered, during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, a cyberattack which hit all of our computer systems. “ As a result, the newspaper released on Thursday a single regional edition, instead of the usual three editions during confinement.
