University of the Highlands and Islands working to recover from cyberattack

Posted on March 8, 2021 by Dissent

University of the Highlands and Islands in the U.K. suffered a cyberattack that resulted in classes being canceled today. They tweeted about it here, and posted a statement on their web site:

UHI Alert

The University of the Highlands and Islands partnership is experiencing an ongoing cyber incident which has caused disruption to our systems and networks across all our campuses. We are currently working to isolate and minimise impact from this incident with assistance from external partners. We do not believe personal data has been affected. The source of the incident is not yet known.

All classes currently online because of the restrictions caused by COVID-19 will continue as normal wherever possible. Some students will attend campuses for practical classes as directed by their local course or campus contact.
