Arkady Petrov reports:
The man suspected of being responsible for the largest data leak in Brazil was arrested this Friday, March 19th, in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, during Operation Deepwater, of the Federal Police (PF). The action investigates the obtaining, disclosure and commercialization of data of Brazilians, including several authorities.
The investigations found that, last January, through the Internet, confidential data of individuals and companies – such as the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) and the Corporate Taxpayer Registry (CNPJ), full names and addresses – were illicitly made available.
More on The Rio Times — if you have a subscription. I don’t, but Globo will give you all the details. Globo reports that the threat actor known as Vanda the God’s was arrested, that his computer and phone were seized, and that other warrants have been issued.
Vanda the God’s real name is reportedly Marcos Roberto Correia da Silva, he is 24 years old, and that he is allegedly responsible for disseminating information on 223 million Brazilians. “JustBR,” who is the person who listed the data on RaidForums, seems to be a second individual.
