The operators of the DopplePaymer ransomware have leaked a large collection of files from the Illinois Office of the Attorney General after negotiations have broken down and officials refused to pay a ransom demand, The Record has learned.
Perhaps the most interesting part of Cimpanu’s report is the part that explains why negotiations with those threat actors often fail — and it has to do with the sanctioning of Evil Corp by the government and the suggestion that DoppelPaymer ransomware was created by Evil Corp.
