Taiwan Kadokawa Co, is part of the Kadokawa corporation group of companies.  On June 3, they discovered they had been attacked. In a subsequent press release of June 4 and statement, they explained what appears to be a ransomware attack (machine translation):

Taiwan Kadokawa Co., Ltd. (Taipei City, Chairman: Taketo Iwasaki, hereinafter referred to as the company), because the server used by the company was found to be accessed without authorization from outside, it is hereby announced.

At present, the company is working hard to find out the content and scope of the damage. The following are the facts that have been grasped and the company’s processing status.

On June 3, 2021, the company discovered that the server was accessed without authorization from ransomware. In order to prevent the scope of the victim from expanding, the company immediately shut down the servers and computers that may have been affected, and cut off their network connections. And before the information security is confirmed, the company will suspend the service of the official website.

As for the information that may be leaked, we believe that it includes personal and corporate information, but it does not contain any credit card-related information. At present, the scope of damage is limited to our company’s server, and it is confirmed that the affiliated company’s server and network are not affected.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to you.
