The investigation conducted on the Newton Falls Exempted Village School District and NEOMIN’s technology network systems revealed there is no evidence of any data breaches with either institution’s network systems.
Earlier in August, the investigation began after the district informed students and parents of a possible security breach.
The district disproved parents’ concerns over certain company websites and testing programs.
It found that the company Final Forms does not store SSN’s in its system, the ACT does not use SSN’s during tests, and NEOMIN’s network systems have no instances of a data breach.

The statement posted on the district’s home page on August 29 reads:
After a thorough investigation into the school district and NEOMIN’s technology network systems, there is no evidence of any data breaches with either institution’s network systems. The issue of students’ Social Security numbers being used to file fraudulent tax claims is not isolated to just Newton Falls students and has been found to be a problem impacting students across the Nation. We recommend to parents of students impacted by this to call the IRS at 800-829-1040 to report any fraudulent claims.
