If you have been reading @Chum1ng0’s weekly “Bits n’ Pieces (Trozos y Piezas)” column on Fridays, you have already read about the Guacamaya group’s hack and leak of government files from Chile and other Latam countries. The incident has received public attention in Chile, where some have proposed a national cybersecurity agency. The Mexican government also has to address the leak. Deutsche Welle reports:
President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador confirmed the theft, which was first revealed by local media overnight.
“It’s true, there was a cyber hack,” he said, noting that hackers had exploited a change in the military’s IT systems.
The six terabytes of data stolen included, among other things, Lopez Obrador’s state of health and a number of security issues, the news portal Latinus reported.
