Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corporation notifies employees of insider breach

Posted on November 13, 2022 by Dissent

Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corporation has disclosed an insider breach involving the sensitive, personally identifiable information (PII) of active employees as of March 29, 2021.

According to their notification, a copy of which was submitted to the Montana Attorney General’s Office, Booz Allen recently learned that while employed by Booz Allen, a former employee obtained and downloaded a copy of an internal report that was improperly stored on an internal Share Point site.

Based on the company’s review, the PII in the report included name, Social Security number, compensation, gender, race, ethnicity, date of birth, and U.S. Government security clearance eligibility and status as of March 29, 2021.

The firm has offered employees two years of credit monitoring with Equifax but notes that their investigation led them to believe that the former employee did not intend to misuse any of the personal information in the report to harm any employee(s).

The full notification template can be found on the Montana AG’s website. It does not indicate how many employees are being notified, but MarketScreener indicates that the holding corporation has 29,300 employees.
