Progressive Southeastern Insurance Company’s notice to consumers concerns an impostor whom they unknowingly hired, it seems:
What Happened?
In March 2025, we received anonymous information that a Progressive employee was working under someone else’s identity. We promptly began an internal investigation. The investigation determined that the employee had used someone else’s identity to obtain employment at Progressive and complete our background check. The employee resigned during the course of our investigation.
What Information Was Involved?
The employee handled certain customer calls from October 23, 2023, to April 27, 2025. One or more of the calls were about an insurance policy or policies covering you. As a result, the employee had access to information about you, such as your name, address, and <elements>.
What We Are Doing.
Our investigation has revealed no evidence that any consumer information was misused as a result of this incident. Nonetheless, we are offering you two years of free identity monitoring services through Kroll. The services include Credit Monitoring, Fraud Consultation, and Identity Theft Restoration.
How many consumers did this impostor acquire personal information from during that time period? They do not say. Did they refer this matter to law enforcement for possible prosecution of the individual? They do not say that, either. This post will be updated if more information becomes available.
