Here is today’s reminder of the insider threat. Street Insider reports:
ALT5 Sigma Corporation filed a lawsuit in Delaware Chancery Court on November 4 against Wellington Peel, LLC, Jean-Francois Amyot, Hugues Benoit and Prime Delta Corp., seeking a temporary restraining order and injunctive relief related to alleged unauthorized access of company information.
The company discovered on October 23 that a former consultant who had formed a competing business accessed and transmitted company emails and files to an affiliated entity from his company email account without authorization. ALT5 Sigma terminated the consultant’s access to all company email and systems following the discovery.
The company engaged forensic experts to investigate the matter. Through this investigation, ALT5 Sigma learned on October 29 that the former consultant’s unauthorized access to and downloading of company files, emails, and data was broader than initially understood and may have had a material adverse effect on the company.
