Courthouse News reports:
An emergency room nurse says a cop arrested her for not collecting blood from a suspected drunken driver when asked, the nurse claims in Chicago Federal Court.Â
Lisa Hofstra says she was the emergency room charge nurse at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago at 4 a.m. on Aug. 1 when a Chicago Police officer, identified in the lawsuit only as Rodriguez, requested that she take blood from an arrestee.
Hofstra says she explained to the officer that the individual had to first be admitted as a patient before she could take blood.
That’s when she says the officer slapped handcuffs on her and escorted to a police car in front of her coworkers.
