Heartland Payment Systems again finds itself in the glaring light of a data breach probe, but this time, the injuries are almost entirely self-inflicted. The incident in question is the Austin, Texas, data breach of several hundred payment cards from a 4-location Greek cafeteria—which one Austin detective said crafts a terrific baklava—that happens to use Heartland as its processor.
Evan comments that Heartland’s press statements that it was not the source of the breach at Tino’s Greek Cafe and that the Secret Service had confirmed that they were not the target of the investigation are premature at best, because there has been no investigation as yet.
