Monadnock Community Bank, who reported a somewhat strange situation to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office in September, filed another breach report this month.
According to its letter dated November 9, MCB’s card processor notified it that an unnamed third party payment service provider’s network had a data breach involving customer information, including debit card numbers, expiration dates, CVC, and PIN offset for 13 New Hampshire residents. The total number of affected customers was not reported.
I contacted the bank to inquire as to whether there was any indication that the two breaches were connected. According to Don Blanchette, Sr. Vice-President, they have no evidence of that. The first incident involved a single customer, and in the second incident, there is no indication that any of the 13 customers had their card information misused.
