Ben Grubb reports that the university got a very public demonstration of the need to harden their security. Although no personal information was reportedly accessed or acquired, the university got the message:
A hacker who claims not to be qualified has breached Sydney University’s computer security in an apparent bid to embarrass administrators.
But, as yet, the university has not called in the police.
As seen in a screen grab by this website, the hacker vandalised the front page of the University of Sydney site.
In an email seen by this website and sent to all students, vice-chancellor and principal Michael Spence said the university had engaged “two of Australia’s leading web security organisations” to investigate.
