Is it possible to really manage a massive breach well in terms of the sign-up for identity theft protection? It seems I frequently read complaints about overloaded phone lines. Here’s another one in the wake of the Community Health System breach that affected 4.5 million patients from over 200 covered entities:
After getting a letter in August about his personal information potentially being stolen from Physicians Regional Healthcare System, Ed Magnani went online to register for identity theft protection being offered.
He couldn’t get registered, likely because of computer overloads with the protection company website.
“I must have tried 25 times,” he said.
