City officials were calling for answers, Thursday, after piles of sensitive personal documents were dumped in an alley.
City officials said illegal dumping has been a problem in Lawrence before, but never at this level. The documents included copies of Social Security cards, driver’s licenses, financial portfolios and paychecks. Documents from a doctor’s office, including patient information, were also found.

Laplante estimated that over 100 people had their personal information compromised in the dump.

Officials believe six contractors are responsible for the illegal dumping and they have been fined $300 each. Officials also said the alley will be cleaned up at the expense of those six contractors.
