The Associated Press reports:
Records of how emergency medical services respond to calls could again be open to public inspection in South Carolina.
A state Senate panel on Thursday will take up a bill that makes it clear those records are public information.
Sen. Harvey Peeler two years ago pushed legislation through that the state Department of Health and Environmental Control said was needed to comply with federal patient privacy laws.
But Peeler now says that legislation went too far by closing off access to public records.
