A laptop holding the bank details of people receiving winter fuel payments and people in receipt of care grants has been stolen from a council’s offices.
Two laptops were stolen when Glasgow City Council’s offices were broken into sometime between 28 and 29 May.
Now the Council is to write to the 37,835 customers whose personal details were on the machine, which, though password protected, was not encrypted.
The information relates to 17,692 companies and 20,143 individuals. It includes names and addresses, and, in the case of 16,451 customers (10,382 companies and 6069 individuals), bank account details.
