TechMedia Network will be sending out letters on December 23 that begin:
We are writing to inform you of an incident that may have involved your personal information. On November 20, 2013, Techmedia Network detected an unauthorized intrusion into its systems that may have allowed access to your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, credit card number, expiration date, and CVV security codes. In addition to our ongoing internal investigation, we are working with law enforcement to further investigate the unauthorized intrusion into TechMedia systems. We want to see those involved in this incident found and fully prosecuted.
According to their submission to California, the hack occurred on October 4, although that information is not included in the notification letter to individuals, a copy of which is available on California Attorney General’s breach list.
They do not explain why they were storing CVV data.
Those affected are being offered free services through AllClear.
Update: The breach was also reported to 65 New Hampshire residents.
Update 2: 290 Maryland residents were also affected.
