HARTFORD, Ct. — Aetna is alerting nearly 5,000 policy holders in New Jersey and Pennsylvania that it recovered a filing cabinet containing social security numbers and other personal information that it had thrown away when it moved out of an office in March.
The cabinet contained health plan dependent enrollment forms from 2003 to 2007 from people who worked for mid-sized employers and had requested Aetna add or change coverage for their families, Atena spokeswoman Cynthia Michener said. The enrollment forms include name, address, Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
