CONFIDENTIAL medical details of more than 1,000 patients have been exposed after a hospital employee left them on public transport.
The Addenbrooke’s Hospital worker lost a spreadsheet stored on a USB memory stick along with a printed copy of 1,300 patient names and test records.
The details include the dates and types of tests that have been carried out or are due to be performed, covering all medical areas.

An Addenbrooke’s spokesman apologised and claimed the risk of identity fraud was minimal.
He said: “Some information about a number of our patients has been lost by a member of staff.
“The only identifiable details are initials and surnames, so it is extremely unlikely that it can be used in a fraudulent way. It does not include dates of birth, addresses or telephone numbers.”
