Amy Frazier reports:
Entercom, the owner of eight radio stations in the Portland area, had data containing personal information from listeners and staff stolen from a car in late February.
As many as 13,000 people are affected.
Officials with Entercom alerted Portland police after the theft happened on February 28 on SE 17th between Burnside and Ankeny.
On that date, they said in a statement on their website, data cartridges with a backup of file server data were inside a backpack that was stolen from an employee’s car. The cartridges, they said, require special hardware and software to read.

Their statement does not indicate whether the employee violated any policies by leaving the backup in an unattended vehicle or what they will do to prevent another incident of this kind. They are reviewing their procedures to determine that.
Those affected are being offered free credit-monitoring services.
