In an article that requires a subscription for full access, Bert Caldwell of The Spokesman Review reports that the Washington Department of Labor and Industries web site was shut down for several hours yesterday after a contractor realized his Social Security number was exposed and contacted them. A spokesperson said that the problem was a “side effect of recent software upgrades.”
“Side effect?” So now we’re adopting a medical model? Will ads for the software now warn potential customers that they should not use the software if they have a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, or liver problems, and that they should contact their physician immediately if they have an erection lasting more than four hours after they install the software?
