Last month, I noted that Dennis East International (DEI) was notifying customers after OmegaNet notified them of a breach.
In the interim, OmegaNet, through its attorneys, has notified the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office that 10 businesses in New Hampshire were affected by a malware incident that was able to capture information before it was encrypted.
According to their notification, the malware was inserted on May 28, 2014, and OmegaNet first became aware of it after receiving calls from some customers on June 16, 2014 reporting unusual activity on their corporate credit cards. All customers were notified of the breach on June 24, 2014, although the notification to the state indicates that customers would be receiving a supplemental notification on August 5.
The total number of businesses and individuals affected by the incident was not disclosed. OmegaNet lists some of their clients on their site.
Nor does their notification indicate what, if any, mitigation services OmegaNet may have offered those affected.
