Personal information of approximately 915 present and former staff members of Mount Pleasant ISD may have been compromised between Jan. 18 and Jan. 21.

When technology director Noe Arzate clicked on the link in the Tweet, “it took him to a downloaded file that included name, address and Social Security numbers” of MPISD staff.
Saxton said there is no indication the breach came through the Mount Pleasant ISD system.
“We checked all the firewalls. We’re not sure how it happened but it did,” she said. “As soon as we heard about it, we basically shut the system down.”

So they found out about it from another district who found out about it from a tweet? Should k12 IT personnel be routinely checking Twitter for references to their district each day? Or maybe Pastebin?
