An online medical database has North Shore GPs worried for their patients’ privacy.
They are hitting out at the system, called TestSafe, saying it could be used to put patient medical records into the wrong hands.
Milford doctor John Russell says he has seen two cases where people have used the system inappropriately to check their own blood test results.
Neither was a medical professional, though both worked for the Waitemata District Health Board.
TestSafe files are meant to be checked only by doctors directly involved in a patient’s care.
“I was shocked,” says Mr Russell. “It shows easy access. They could have grabbed someone else’s
results if they’d wanted.
