Mollie Durkin reports:
WellSpan Health has notified its employees about a situation that could expose the health system to a risk of federal health information privacy violations.
In a Friday email, employees were told they could have unknowingly downloaded private patient information to their non-work devices, said WellSpan spokesman Barry Sparks.
The email said if staff members accessed their WellSpan email accounts from an outside computer between April 3 and June 10, there is a risk they could have downloaded and left documents on that computer, possibly exposing patients to a privacy risk.
As of Wednesday, no employees had come forward saying they found anything downloaded to their devices, and WellSpan continues to investigate the issue, Sparks said.
