The anticipatory bail plea filed by five former top executives of Naaptol, a home shopping firm, was rejected by the district sessions court recently. The five were booked by the Navi Mumbai police for allegedly stealing and selling the company’s data to another company.
The once head-honchos at Naaptol, Suraj Singh, Shankar Shrivastav, Gaurag Garg, Sandeep Wankhede and Amol Zambre, are absconding after a case was filed against them for data theft.
(I think that last sentence was probably intended to reflect a risk of jumping bail and was not intended to assert that the defendants did or were actually absconding. But then, I could be wrong.)
Police said the five accused had quit Naaptol sometime in 2015 and had joined another company. The top management at Naaptol claimed that all the five accused were part of the criminal cartel, which was involved in stealing software data.
