Nearly 20 people were arrested late last week in Drug Enforcement Agency task force raids across Northern California, including at two locations in San Francisco, in what federal authorities are calling a “broad ranging criminal conspiracy” to traffic methamphetamines, heroin and other drugs.

The affidavit also alleges that Claudia Munoz, Escalante’s girlfriend, works for the San Francisco Department of Child Support Services and used her position to access DMV and criminal records for Escalante and his compatriots.

The press release from the U.S.A.O, Northern District of California, can be found here. The DOJ’s statement makes no mention that Munoz may have engaged in unauthorized access or exceeding authorized access to those databases.
