City hall has settled the wrongful dismissal lawsuit launched by former chief building official Bruce Poole and has also recovered personal information about City of Guelph employees that was inadvertently given to Poole’s lawyers.
These announcements, made in two separate but related city hall news releases late Tuesday afternoon, conclude a matter that cost deputy CAO Mark Amorosi his job earlier this month.
The $1-million lawsuit launched by Poole last year took a bizarre twist when reams of files containing confidential city hall material was inadvertent turned over to Poole’s lawyers during a legal discovery process. Poole filed an affidavit this year disclosing that he’d been given a lot of “private and confidential information” not relevant to his case on a USB stick provided by city lawyers.
