I haven’t provided any updates on this in a while, but Neil Camilleri provides a good update to events in the Panama Papers case on The Malta Independent. Did you know that Mossack and Fonseca had been arrested three weeks ago?
The arrests, in Panama City, were linked to Brazil’s so-called ‘Operation Car Wash’ which exposed massive corruption in the South American Country. It found that huge sums were paid in bribes to politicians in return for contracts from state-owned oil company Petrobras. The $2 billion kickback scheme has seen nearly 100 executives and politicians have been imprisoned.
Read Camilleri’s report. It’s an amazing story and great investigative journalism.
