The Wall Street Journal recently ran a disturbing article about hospital data security — or the lack thereof. It seems that Tanium, a new cybersecurity company, is alleged to have used private data from a hospital in El Camino, CA during their sales demonstrations with other health facilities throughout the state, and perhaps throughout the country. Such a breach of trust, if true, is why IT staffs at health facilities have insomnia. It’s also an ‘ah-ha’ moment for entrepreneurs in the health IT field, reminding them that they can’t be too cautious when it comes to their collaborator/partner’s sensitive data.
