New Event of Note: International Privacy+Security Forum: Feb. 26 and Feb. 27

Posted on January 12, 2018 by Dissent

One of the absolute joys of blogging about privacy and breaches for the last 11+ years is that I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many fantastic scholars and practitioners. But I’ve only had that opportunity because a few people have done the hard work to organize events and to graciously offer to comp me so I could attend  (it’s hard to do a lot of conferences when you have no employer paying your way).

Of note, Daniel Solove, Chris Hoofnagle, and Paul Schwartz have done yeoman service over the years organizing great events: Dan and Chris started the Privacy Law Scholars Forum which alternates coasts and is still my absolute favorite event, and then Dan and Paul Schwartz started a more practice-oriented event: the Privacy+Security Forum, which is held every October in Washington, D.C.

But now there’s even MORE opportunity to talk shop about privacy and security and to learn more about privacy and security outside of U.S. borders. For the first time, there will be an International Privacy+Security Forum. It will be held in Washington, D.C. at GW University on February 26 and 27, and I am grateful to Dan and Paul for inviting me to attend this. And with GDPR due to go into effect soon, the timing of this seems brilliant.

You can find information on The International Privacy+Security Forum here. And here are the preliminary schedule and scheduled speakers.  Looking at it all, I can see that once again, I’m going to be having those “there are too many great choices – which one do I go to?” moments.

I hope to see you many of you there next month. And if you’re attending the event and we’ve never had the opportunity to meet in person before, do come find me and say hello. During breaks, I can often be found near the coffee setup (gee, what a shock, huh?).  And yes, my name tag at these events lists me as “Dissent Doe.”
