Erin Richey reports that someone found boxes of patient records belonging to DaVita Florissant Dialysis on West Florissant Avenue.
“Found names, Social Security numbers, addresses, lab reports, entire medical history of people and personal information,” he said. “

According to the report, because Missouri does not regulate dialysis clinics, the state department of health and human services can do very little in response to the records breach.
“We do not have monetary penalties related to their deficiencies,” said Lowry. “They’re given a chance to present what’s called a plan of correction.”
HHS can do something, though, if they are so inclined. At the present time, it is not clear who dumped the records — whether it was a clinic employee or a vendor. There’s more investigation needed.
