A news release issued by the commission said that the breach took place Tuesday when one of the firewalls “was circumvented due to network routing changes.” The server contains more than 80,000 records regarding casino employees, including Social Security numbers and birth dates.

A statement on the Commission’s web site says, in part:
The compromise took place January 26 when the state firewall functionality was circumvented due to network routing changes and a licensing database was breached. The information potentially released by the breach would be the information contained on your occupational license application (i.e. name, social security number, date of birth etc.)
