John O’Connor of the Associated Press reports that AP obtained a memo suggesting that an Illinois state employee downloading music to a laptop computer was responsible for inadvertently sharing sensitive Illinois Department on Aging information such as employees’ Social Security numbers. The North Country Gazette reports that Evelyne Miracle, a former employee of the New York City Office of Vital Records has been arrested for stealing the credit card information of those who used credit cards to pay for copies of their birth certificates. The number of people victimized was not reported.
