Gary Stevens reports that alleged late disclosure of a data breach has led to a lawsuit.
The Holland Sentinel is reporting in Wednesday’s editions that class-action status has been requested by plaintiff Jennie DeVries of Holland for the litigation filed at US District Court for Western Michigan on Monday. In the lawsuit, DeVries claimed that the Holland school failed to notify until December 15th affected persons of a September 27th incident, in which names, birth dates, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers and student ID numbers were compromised. The six-count lawsuit claims that nearly 157,000 persons were affected, and the plaintiff is asking for over $5 million in damages, as well as interest and costs.
